There are many ways to describe how big a company is. Wall Street&rsquo;s favorite measuring stick is known as market capitalization &mdash; or market cap, for short.
It&rsquo;s simply the number of stock shares a company has issued multiplied by the price of each share.
Lately, all of Wall Street&rsquo;s attention has been focused on stocks with the biggest market caps. Names like Apple Inc. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/AAPL">AAPL</a>), with its $3.4 trillion market cap&hellip; or Nvidia Corp. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/NVDA">NVDA</a>), with a market cap of $2.9 trillion.
And until recently, companies on the small- and microcap side of the market &mdash; with market caps under $200 billion &mdash; have been left alone.
But last week, investors suddenly realized that Wall Street&rsquo;s tiniest stocks were selling at bargain prices.
Our team thinks it&rsquo;s just the start of a movement that will push small- and microcaps to incredible heights.
&ldquo;Small caps have been a mess for months,&rdquo; says Greg Guenthner. But &ldquo;we&rsquo;re finally seeing key breakouts emerge in some forgotten corners of the market.&rdquo;
&ldquo;Small-cap innovators could quickly pick up momentum,&rdquo; Ray Blanco tells us.
&ldquo;A lot of ignored small-cap stocks are good values,&rdquo; says Dan Amoss.
You might think the best way to play this coming move is with an exchange-traded index fund like the iShares Russell 2000 ETF (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/IWM">IWM</a>). It&rsquo;s designed to mimic the performance of the Russell 2000 index of small-cap stocks.
But an index fund doesn&rsquo;t judge whether the companies it&rsquo;s holding are good or bad. And Zach Scheidt and Dan say the Russell 2000 is overweight in several worrisome industries, like regional banking.
&ldquo;Regional banks have the most exposure to commercial real estate,&rdquo; Dan reports. &ldquo;A lot of them are losing money.&rdquo;
The losers in an index fund drag down the gains you get from winners.
Another strategy is to simply buy a basket of individual small-cap stocks on your own. Shares tend to be inexpensive, meaning you could build a diversified portfolio for very little money.
The problem is that a lot of these companies are tiny for a reason &mdash; they lack the ability to grow or survive.
Putting these inevitable losers in your portfolio will soak up cash you could have invested in more promising opportunities. And they&rsquo;ll also weigh down the profits you&rsquo;ll see from your winners.
The best strategy, according to Zach, is to buy good companies that will benefit from Wall Street&rsquo;s move out of mega-cap stocks.
That means companies with lots of cash, little debt, significant revenue and huge growth potential.
Following these guidelines will help ensure you make more than index fund investors or anyone who uses a blind shotgun approach to small-cap investing!

Two assets dominated last week&rsquo;s survey: technology stocks and precious metals.
Some members believe Nvidia Corp. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/NVDA">NVDA</a>) will still be on top by the end of the year.
&ldquo;They are leading the way in AI,&rdquo; says Robert V. &ldquo;Their demand and profit level will keep growing,&rdquo; adds Philip E.
Others are more excited by Apple Inc. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/AAPL">AAPL</a>).
&ldquo;A smart company,&rdquo; says Gary P. And member John L. likes that it&rsquo;s &ldquo;now using AI to improve their products.&rdquo;
Tesla Inc. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/TSLA">TSLA</a>) found a few supporters, too.
Larry D. believes &ldquo;Elon Musk will surprise the critics again and beat the estimates on EV and Robotaxi.&rdquo;
Bill O. tells us &ldquo;Musk has everything: cars, taxis, robots, financial centers.&rdquo; Bill even believes TSLA shares could go up 1,000%
Our team thinks the spotlight will shift to tech companies that haven&rsquo;t kept pace with other AI names.
&ldquo;AI fever remains in place,&rdquo; says Bob Byrne, a senior analyst for Altucher&rsquo;s Investment Network. &ldquo;But investors will shift funds away from Nvidia and toward the &lsquo;me-too&rsquo; stocks that haven't exploded higher.&rdquo;
He thinks Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/AMD">AMD</a>) will take the crown for the rest of 2024.
Ray Blanco also expects Wall Street to move away from NVDA. Only he says the biggest beneficiary will be Intel Corp. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/INTC">INTC</a>).
Our &ldquo;<a href="https://concierge.paradigmpressgroup.com/post/buy-this-ai-underdog-today">AI Underdog</a>&rdquo; is getting ready to produce state-of-the-art microchips that will compete with the best currently on the market. Ray also expects Intel to benefit from &ldquo;a PC upgrade cycle going into 2025.&rdquo;
If he&rsquo;s right, INTC shares could double in the next six months.
On the precious metals side of things, most members simply said &ldquo;gold&rdquo; or &ldquo;silver.&rdquo;
There were some miners mentioned, like Coeur Mining Inc. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/CDE">CDE</a>) and Nevada Canyon Gold Corp. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/NGLD">NGLD</a>).
Jim Rickards and Dan Amoss think a smarter play is to buy call options on a large senior miner.
&ldquo;It&rsquo;s not a stretch to assume a $60 target for Newmont Corp. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/NEM">NEM</a>) by January 2025,&rdquo; Dan tells us.
So he and Jim believe NEM Jan. 17, 2025, $50 call options could soar as much as 300%.

A few members believe silver offers better opportunities &mdash; particularly the iShares Silver Trust (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/SLV">SLV</a>).
Keith M. cites the &ldquo;perfect storm of inflation, BRICS, wars, the election turmoil and debt greater than GDP.&rdquo; William K. chooses SLV because silver is &ldquo;much better than gold in purchasing power if the dollar falters.&rdquo;
Income and trading specialist Zach Scheidt agrees that SLV is the one to beat. Even better, stock options on SLV are so cheap right now that they offer superior profit potential.

Pamela, I&rsquo;m not sure why you sent this to Jim&hellip; and I hope you see my response here. I&rsquo;ll also make sure it makes its way to James&rsquo; team.
First, keep in mind that we have no control over the U.S. Postal Service. While our information is fresh when our issues are written and published, it may be outdated by the time your mailman delivers the physical copy to you.
But the day the issue goes to the printer is also the day it gets posted on our website. We send you an email to let you know it&rsquo;s online. You should have received it on May 22&hellip; a full month before the snail mail version reached you!
And even if you don&rsquo;t have an email address or internet access, it doesn&rsquo;t mean you missed out.
In this recommendation, $140 is the limit price &mdash; the most you should pay for the stock. You can give your broker standing instructions to buy the stock if it falls to $140.
It&rsquo;s called a limit order. And if you had set one on the day you received your issue in the mail, your order would have been filled when the stock dropped below $140 on June 24. You&rsquo;d even be seeing a small profit today!

Without getting into the mechanics, a high VIX reading indicates that investors expect trouble ahead &mdash; so they&rsquo;re moving their money out of harm&rsquo;s way.
Lately, however, the VIX has been unusually calm.
Of course, there are many, many reasons to believe that the market&rsquo;s tranquility won&rsquo;t last much longer.
Recession warnings&hellip; election jitters&hellip; Mideast turmoil&hellip; unrestrained inflation&hellip;
When the panic inevitably starts, there will be a rush into safer investments.
The deepest pockets, like institutions and hedge funds, will pile into futures and options on everything from Treasury instruments to precious metals.
So our team expects CME Group Inc. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/CME">CME</a>) to thrive in the weeks and months ahead.

Now, the prevailing attitude (NOT "wisdom"!) among so many market participants (not really "investors") is to catch a skyrocking equity and sell it when it gets to the stratosphere. They are much more likely to catch a falling knife! Caveat emptor is the only regulation that the markets need! 
Thanks for chiming in, George! And I agree that Wall Street is more like a casino than ever &mdash; where profits and losses have more to do with luck than whether or not a company has a solid business plan.
When the bust inevitably comes, we&rsquo;re going to hear people crying it&rsquo;s unfair &mdash; and begging the government to restore what they&rsquo;ve lost.
But until that time comes, you may as well grab some profits for yourself while you can. Just make sure you have a plan in place for when the markets turn against you.
Understanding the risks and taking personal responsibility for your portfolio will be crucial!

A while ago, [Jim] Rickards publicized that Biden, on June 13, would announce that he is not going to run for President again. Well, that announcement didn&rsquo;t happen. Plus, neither did the DNC announce that Gavin Newsom is going to be the de facto/shadow DNC presidential candidate, as Rickards professed. I think that Rickards is experiencing a credibility meltdown.
Thanks for sharing your concerns, Dave. And it&rsquo;s true that Jim&rsquo;s exact prediction didn&rsquo;t come true.
No one can forecast the future with absolute certainty. Instead, Jim looked at all the available information and data, then drew out a timeline based on what he was seeing.
If the Democrats were going to remove Biden from consideration, June 13 seemed the most likely date.
But just because Jim got the timing wrong doesn&rsquo;t mean his analysis is wrong. The Democratic convention is still weeks away&hellip; and Jim isn&rsquo;t the only one <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13481849/democrat-plot-biden-replacement-clinton-obama-pelosi-schumer.html">speculating Biden might be out</a> before then.
Besides, Jim has been right about many, many things. So getting one precise date wrong doesn&rsquo;t seem like much of a credibility meltdown to me.
Even if the Democrats do stick with Biden until November, I don&rsquo;t think it will put Jim in a bad light. His prediction assumes the Democrats want to win White House. No one can rationally look at the polls or Biden&rsquo;s job approval rating and pin all their hopes on him.
So we&rsquo;ll just see how things pan out&hellip;

Last week <a href="https://concierge.paradigmpressgroup.com/post/kitty-vs-buzzards">I asked for your opinion of Keith Gill</a>, the &ldquo;Roaring Kitty&rdquo; who profits from stocks that Wall Street&rsquo;s elite have bet against.
Daniel A. tells us:
Our governments and global elite have been picking winners and losers unfairly&hellip; It should be totally fair for groups of people to communicate publicly their opinions and act according to that information. I am totally against shorts who attack weaker, smaller companies trying to get started or get their feet under them and become stable companies. If they are allowed to attack companies, why can't others defend them equally? 
Thanks for responding, Daniel! I agree that too many powerful people have their thumbs on Wall Street&rsquo;s scale. So you need sources of independent analysis and research to even the odds.
But our team would argue that Roaring Kitty isn&rsquo;t championing companies that deserve a second chance.
AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/AMC">AMC</a>) and GameStop Corp. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/GME">GME</a>) knew their markets were changing, but didn&rsquo;t make any adjustments to their business models. They still haven&rsquo;t, even though Gill and his followers have sent their share prices higher.
Should everyday investors be encouraged to prop up companies with grim outlooks? What will happen if they end up losing their shirts?
I don&rsquo;t have the answers&hellip; but we&rsquo;ll keep trying to figure it out!
Next from the mailbag &mdash; in last week&rsquo;s Reader Forum, Bill D. said &ldquo;Jim [Rickards] is way far out into conspiracy orbit.&rdquo; That inspired Steve S. to respond:
Sometimes I, too, get the heebie-jeebies following Jim's warnings. However, I believe Jim's experience far outweighs my lifetime's insights, and as glaring as some of the articles I read are, they still draw me to the conclusion that Jim's communications are presented in a way to prepare us for worst-case scenarios.
That&rsquo;s a great attitude to have, Steve. Let&rsquo;s be honest &mdash; no one likes to think about what could go wrong. Wall Street is ignoring every red flag and just keeps driving stocks higher.
But you can be sure that hedge funds and the elite have contingency plans for a downturn. So it&rsquo;s the ordinary investors who are set to lose the most if things turn sour.
Jim is doing everything he can to prevent that, however. Where members like Bill D. see fear-mongering, we see useful warnings that can help you protect and grow your wealth.
Because eventually, Jim&rsquo;s predictions will prove correct. And it&rsquo;s better to be prepared too soon than too late!
Finally for today, William H. used The Trading Desk&rsquo;s Live chat to ask Greg Guenthner:
Do you have an agreement with the other editors not to pick the same stocks? I don't recall seeing "cross pollination" on the tickers.
You&rsquo;re not the only one who wonders that, William. So even though Greg addressed this in the chat, I hope you don&rsquo;t mind me sharing my answer here.
Each of our analysts has their own criteria and methods for finding new recommendations. They also pitch ideas to each other, getting thoughts and feedback on plays they&rsquo;re looking at.
For the most part, though, no one says, &ldquo;you can&rsquo;t recommend that because I want to recommend it.&rdquo;
The only exceptions are with smaller stocks. If someone says to buy a thinly traded stock that&rsquo;s already in another portfolio, the price could artificially surge.
Outside of that specific scenario, though, we don&rsquo;t forbid our team from recommending a stock or option just because it&rsquo;s in another portfolio.
In fact, there have been plenty of companies recommended by multiple services. We&rsquo;ve even had cases where our analysts took completely opposite positions on a stock.
The point is, our team prides itself on its independence. So you can be sure they always share their absolute best recommendations &mdash; regardless of what&rsquo;s happening in other services.

Yep! Had you invested $5,000 in Nvidia in 2014, you&rsquo;d be sitting on over $1.4mm today.
Plus, Nvidia continues to be Wall Street&rsquo;s hottest stock &mdash; hitting new high after new high.
But can the company continue living up to investors&rsquo; expectations?
We&rsquo;ve talked about how tenuous <a href="https://concierge.paradigmpressgroup.com/post/the-nvidia-killer">Nvidia&rsquo;s grip on artificial intelligence (AI) is</a>.
Its days of charging clients top-dollar will slowly fade away as alternatives become available.
According to our Ari Goldschmidt, Microsoft Inc. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/MSFT">MSFT</a>), Facebook&rsquo;s Meta Platforms (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/META">META</a>) and Google parent Alphabet Inc. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/GOOG">GOOG</a>) are all developing their own AI chips.
So if Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is as smart as our team thinks he is, he&rsquo;ll look to pivot the company into another area it can dominate.
With all of the money it&rsquo;s raking in, Nvidia could easily buy up other businesses in a related space.
One strong possibility is cloud computing &mdash; which allows people to use advanced software applications with few hardware restrictions. That&rsquo;s because the bulk of the programming is stored &ldquo;off-site&rdquo; at a data center.
Right now Nvidia rents data center space from other companies. But if Nvidia is looking to innovate another technology, it could simply acquire a few of the middle men.
And it would most likely start in Virginia.
The state is home to the largest concentration of data centers in the United States &mdash; possibly the world. And it continues to grow.
Virginia&rsquo;s Loudoun County is already home to 30 million square feet of data center locations. In December, neighboring Prince William County approved plans to build 23 million square feet of data center space.

Whether or not Nvidia decides to take a bigger stake in this region, data centers are critical to the future of AI.
So Virginia is set to become more important to technological innovation than Silicon Valley.
And considering who&rsquo;s currently dominating AI, it makes sense to refer to Virginia&rsquo;s concentration of data centers as &ldquo;Nvidia Valley.&rdquo;

I applaud you for speaking out, Bill. And while I&rsquo;m reluctant to tackle our team&rsquo;s <a href="https://concierge.paradigmpressgroup.com/post/stop-publishing-politics">political views and analysis again</a>, a few of your concerns warrant a response.
First, Jim doesn&rsquo;t spout conspiracy theories. He gathers data from a wide variety of sources, then analyzes it using proven techniques from the intelligence community.
You can argue that his conclusions may sound far-fetched, but there is always solid research connecting each dot. And while many dismiss his analysis as fear-mongering, Jim actually considers himself an optimist.
That&rsquo;s because, as he puts it, &ldquo;there are always ways to prepare and protect yourself against what&rsquo;s coming.&rdquo;
In addition, while Jim predicts that Donald Trump will win the White House, he doesn&rsquo;t think the man walks on water.
Jim made that clear in his &ldquo;Scandals, Secrets and Scoundrels&rdquo; broadcast.
&ldquo;I think my track record as a Trump supporter is pretty good,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;But I&rsquo;m also a very severe Trump critic.&rdquo;

Now, here&rsquo;s what&rsquo;s happening around the water cooler this week&hellip;
<h2 class="subhead nbp">The Water Cooler &mdash; Upcoming Events and More</h2>
Keith Gill, also known as &ldquo;Roaring Kitty,&rdquo; specializes in creating &ldquo;short squeezes.&rdquo;
He buys stock in companies that the Wall Street elite expect to fail. Then he hops on his social media accounts, telling his thousands of followers to buy, too.
They create a buying frenzy &mdash; forcing traders who have standing bets against Gill&rsquo;s picks to cover their positions.
The only way they can do that is by buying shares of the stock themselves. The elite lose money while sending the stock shares even higher.
Short squeeze strategies are nothing new, of course. But Gill has taken them to an entirely new level.
In fact, E*Trade, which is owned by Morgan Stanley (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/ms">MS</a>), thinks Gill is manipulating the markets. So the brokerage is considering banning him from making any more trades.
As Dave Gonigam detailed in <a href="https://paradigmpressroom.com/post/radical-change#2">last Tuesday&rsquo;s 5 Bullets</a>, our team has mixed feelings about that.&nbsp;
The debate continued throughout the week.
Alan Knuckman says, &ldquo;it&rsquo;s no different than what Goldman Sachs does every day.&rdquo;
Sean Ring points out that political leaders like Nancy Pelosi make millions by trading shares of government contractors and companies Congress wants to legislate.
He implies that Gill is gaming the markets in a similar way.
But Zach Scheidt still believes there&rsquo;s a big difference.
&ldquo;if anyone takes a position based on expected or fundamental value,&rdquo; he says, &ldquo;then shares their opinion &mdash; while disclosing his position &mdash; that&rsquo;s fine.&rdquo;
But Gill just wants to &ldquo;drive the price higher and rip the face off those short-sellers.&ldquo;
Zack says, &ldquo;that seems like clear market manipulation and fraud to me.&rdquo;
And while short-sellers may seem like buzzards, circling overhead as a business slowly dies, they&rsquo;re performing a necessary service.
&ldquo;Without them,&rdquo; Zach tells us, &ldquo;you wind up with dead bodies all over the place.&rdquo;
Dan Amoss agrees.
&ldquo;Short-sellers act as brakes in a falling market,&rdquo; he explains. &ldquo;If none are left, you don&rsquo;t have their natural bids as they look to cash in on their short positions.&rdquo;
In other words, when stock prices plummet, short-sellers step in to prevent the market from falling even further.
And according to The Wall Street Journal, more and more short-sellers are calling it quits.
Chasing off the buzzards means Wall Street&rsquo;s next downturn could barrel out of control.
