Artificial intelligence (AI) continues to be Wall Street&rsquo;s hottest industry.
And Nvidia Corp. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/NVDA">NVDA</a>) continues to be the stock to watch &mdash; with shares up a stunning 770% since January 2023.
Investors are eagerly awaiting the company&rsquo;s next earnings release, scheduled for after the markets close on Wednesday, Aug. 28.
But there&rsquo;s a very good chance the data won&rsquo;t live up to expectations.
For one thing, Nvidia is rapidly losing its monopoly on cutting-edge AI tech, as <a href="https://concierge.paradigmpressgroup.com/post/the-nvidia-killer">we&rsquo;ve discussed before</a>.
There&rsquo;s also the fact that the U.S. economy seems to be tottering on the edge of a recession &mdash; if we&rsquo;re not already in one.
Jim Rickards says &ldquo;a recession probably began in June or even May.&rdquo;
So even if Nvidia hits its earnings and revenue targets, the company&rsquo;s management could still offer weak future guidance.
A pessimistic outlook could hit Wall Street like a plague, causing investors to question all of their optimistic beliefs.
Don&rsquo;t misunderstand any sell-off, though. Even our most bearish analysts believe AI will revolutionize entire industries.
And if Nvidia fumbles the torch, it will still be a major player in the next wave of AI. There are also plenty of smaller names waiting in the wings to take the tech where it needs to go.
So whatever happens on Wednesday, it won&rsquo;t be the end of the world.
But if you&rsquo;re prepared for the worst, you&rsquo;ll be far ahead of the rest of the starry-eyed crowd.
You could also set yourself up for big profits if Wall Street freaks out!

A few people weren&rsquo;t as happy with my bakery metaphor, however. Ed. O. says:
Still bait and switch. I want details after spending valuable time listening for hours to what you did years ago, which has nothing to do with the latest thing you are peddling. It&rsquo;s a daily occurrence. All I need is $3 or $4 million to purchase all your pay-for-play ideas.
Sorry, Ed, but I don&rsquo;t see how this qualifies as &ldquo;bait and switch.&rdquo;
Unlike a lot of companies these days, we don&rsquo;t rely on government bailouts to keep the lights on. We also don&rsquo;t take money from big Wall Street firms in exchange for favorable coverage.

In other words, everything someone needs to completely steal your identity.

It comes down to two things:

<li>Market uncertainty: We&rsquo;re actually in a recession and the mainstream didn&rsquo;t know it! This is something Jim Rickards and our macro-oriented analysts have been saying all along. Look, the markets have been going &ldquo;up and to the right&rdquo; for the past 18 months or so. All the major indexes are within a week or two of all-time highs. But underneath the euphoria was a little dose of reality. Unemployment is high, interest rates are high, inflation is high and the lowly middle-classer is feeling the pinch. </li>
<li>Political uncertainty: &ldquo;Peak Trump&rdquo; might be having an impact on the market. The overwhelming positivity from the market and the Trump camp may have climaxed, and that&rsquo;s leaving the door open for the ONE thing the market doesn&rsquo;t like: uncertainty. Love it or hate it, we may have an election race on our hands &mdash; or at least the perception of one.</li>

Things have gotten so bad that people are starting to think Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell will announce an emergency rate cut.
It brings to mind the words of Jim Rickards from our May <a href="https://secretsofwatergate.com/whiskey-bar-replay">Whiskey Bar at the Watergate hotel</a>:
If the Fed cuts rates, it&rsquo;ll be for very bad reasons. It&rsquo;ll be because we&rsquo;re in a recession that&rsquo;s undeniable, that&rsquo;s getting more severe, that&rsquo;s going to take the stock market down.
So what&rsquo;s the &ldquo;action to take&rdquo; today?

<h2 class="subhead nbp">The Water Cooler &mdash; Upcoming Events and More</h2>
If you shop, trade or bank online, your data travels all over the globe &mdash; and you have no idea where it gets saved along the way.
Normally that&rsquo;s not a problem, because all of your data is encrypted&hellip; only readable to authorized eyes.
But that doesn&rsquo;t mean your personal information will always be safe!
&ldquo;China is harvesting massive amounts of encrypted data,&rdquo; says Ray. &ldquo;They can&rsquo;t read it yet. So they&rsquo;re just storing it until they have the technology to open it.&rdquo;
It&rsquo;s not wishful thinking, either. The Chinese government knows the breakthrough is right around the corner.
So does the United States, which is why the federal government is spending billions of dollars to try to develop the tech, too.
I&rsquo;m talking about quantum computing.
Quantum computers use the special properties of subatomic particles to do things that current computers simply aren&rsquo;t capable of.
Ray tells us that one day they&rsquo;ll be able to model complex molecules, leading to the discovery of new materials and drugs.
They could make weather and financial forecasts much more accurate.
And quantum computers could break just about every encryption software being used today.
&ldquo;Whoever cracks quantum computing first is going to rule the world,&rdquo; Ray says confidently.
The good news is that making a functional and practical quantum computer isn&rsquo;t easy. There are still plenty of engineering hurdles to overcome before quantum computing goes mainstream.
But Ray says it&rsquo;s only a matter of time before some government or company figures out how to make it work.
&ldquo;Quantum computing is going to have a ChatGPT moment,&rdquo; he tells us.
It will be the breakthrough that suddenly catches Wall Street&rsquo;s attention&hellip; just like ChatGPT set off the artificial intelligence boom we&rsquo;re seeing today.
The only real question is which company will be the first to burst out of the gate.
Ray is keeping a close eye on some small pioneers.
He also says one of the most surprising companies to watch is Honeywell International (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/HON">HON</a>), which has a fairly advanced quantum computing arm.
Of course, Ray can&rsquo;t predict exactly when quantum computing&rsquo;s &ldquo;ChatGPT moment&rdquo; will arrive.
Still, knowing it&rsquo;s coming puts you ahead of just about everyone else on Wall Street.

There are many ways to describe how big a company is. Wall Street&rsquo;s favorite measuring stick is known as market capitalization &mdash; or market cap, for short.
It&rsquo;s simply the number of stock shares a company has issued multiplied by the price of each share.
Lately, all of Wall Street&rsquo;s attention has been focused on stocks with the biggest market caps. Names like Apple Inc. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/AAPL">AAPL</a>), with its $3.4 trillion market cap&hellip; or Nvidia Corp. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/NVDA">NVDA</a>), with a market cap of $2.9 trillion.
And until recently, companies on the small- and microcap side of the market &mdash; with market caps under $200 billion &mdash; have been left alone.
But last week, investors suddenly realized that Wall Street&rsquo;s tiniest stocks were selling at bargain prices.
Our team thinks it&rsquo;s just the start of a movement that will push small- and microcaps to incredible heights.
&ldquo;Small caps have been a mess for months,&rdquo; says Greg Guenthner. But &ldquo;we&rsquo;re finally seeing key breakouts emerge in some forgotten corners of the market.&rdquo;
&ldquo;Small-cap innovators could quickly pick up momentum,&rdquo; Ray Blanco tells us.
&ldquo;A lot of ignored small-cap stocks are good values,&rdquo; says Dan Amoss.
You might think the best way to play this coming move is with an exchange-traded index fund like the iShares Russell 2000 ETF (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/IWM">IWM</a>). It&rsquo;s designed to mimic the performance of the Russell 2000 index of small-cap stocks.
But an index fund doesn&rsquo;t judge whether the companies it&rsquo;s holding are good or bad. And Zach Scheidt and Dan say the Russell 2000 is overweight in several worrisome industries, like regional banking.
&ldquo;Regional banks have the most exposure to commercial real estate,&rdquo; Dan reports. &ldquo;A lot of them are losing money.&rdquo;
The losers in an index fund drag down the gains you get from winners.
Another strategy is to simply buy a basket of individual small-cap stocks on your own. Shares tend to be inexpensive, meaning you could build a diversified portfolio for very little money.
The problem is that a lot of these companies are tiny for a reason &mdash; they lack the ability to grow or survive.
Putting these inevitable losers in your portfolio will soak up cash you could have invested in more promising opportunities. And they&rsquo;ll also weigh down the profits you&rsquo;ll see from your winners.
The best strategy, according to Zach, is to buy good companies that will benefit from Wall Street&rsquo;s move out of mega-cap stocks.
That means companies with lots of cash, little debt, significant revenue and huge growth potential.
Following these guidelines will help ensure you make more than index fund investors or anyone who uses a blind shotgun approach to small-cap investing!

Two assets dominated last week&rsquo;s survey: technology stocks and precious metals.
Some members believe Nvidia Corp. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/NVDA">NVDA</a>) will still be on top by the end of the year.
&ldquo;They are leading the way in AI,&rdquo; says Robert V. &ldquo;Their demand and profit level will keep growing,&rdquo; adds Philip E.
Others are more excited by Apple Inc. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/AAPL">AAPL</a>).
&ldquo;A smart company,&rdquo; says Gary P. And member John L. likes that it&rsquo;s &ldquo;now using AI to improve their products.&rdquo;
Tesla Inc. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/TSLA">TSLA</a>) found a few supporters, too.
Larry D. believes &ldquo;Elon Musk will surprise the critics again and beat the estimates on EV and Robotaxi.&rdquo;
Bill O. tells us &ldquo;Musk has everything: cars, taxis, robots, financial centers.&rdquo; Bill even believes TSLA shares could go up 1,000%
Our team thinks the spotlight will shift to tech companies that haven&rsquo;t kept pace with other AI names.
&ldquo;AI fever remains in place,&rdquo; says Bob Byrne, a senior analyst for Altucher&rsquo;s Investment Network. &ldquo;But investors will shift funds away from Nvidia and toward the &lsquo;me-too&rsquo; stocks that haven't exploded higher.&rdquo;
He thinks Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/AMD">AMD</a>) will take the crown for the rest of 2024.
Ray Blanco also expects Wall Street to move away from NVDA. Only he says the biggest beneficiary will be Intel Corp. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/INTC">INTC</a>).
Our &ldquo;<a href="https://concierge.paradigmpressgroup.com/post/buy-this-ai-underdog-today">AI Underdog</a>&rdquo; is getting ready to produce state-of-the-art microchips that will compete with the best currently on the market. Ray also expects Intel to benefit from &ldquo;a PC upgrade cycle going into 2025.&rdquo;
If he&rsquo;s right, INTC shares could double in the next six months.
On the precious metals side of things, most members simply said &ldquo;gold&rdquo; or &ldquo;silver.&rdquo;
There were some miners mentioned, like Coeur Mining Inc. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/CDE">CDE</a>) and Nevada Canyon Gold Corp. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/NGLD">NGLD</a>).
Jim Rickards and Dan Amoss think a smarter play is to buy call options on a large senior miner.
&ldquo;It&rsquo;s not a stretch to assume a $60 target for Newmont Corp. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/NEM">NEM</a>) by January 2025,&rdquo; Dan tells us.
So he and Jim believe NEM Jan. 17, 2025, $50 call options could soar as much as 300%.

Keith M. cites the &ldquo;perfect storm of inflation, BRICS, wars, the election turmoil and debt greater than GDP.&rdquo; William K. chooses SLV because silver is &ldquo;much better than gold in purchasing power if the dollar falters.&rdquo;
Income and trading specialist Zach Scheidt agrees that SLV is the one to beat. Even better, stock options on SLV are so cheap right now that they offer superior profit potential.
&ldquo;Buy SLV Jan. 17, 2025, $40 calls below $1,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;If SLV hits $58, those calls will be worth $18 &mdash; a 1,700% gain.&rdquo;
In other words, this is a chance to turn $1,000 into $17,00 by New Year&rsquo;s Day!

Pamela, I&rsquo;m not sure why you sent this to Jim&hellip; and I hope you see my response here. I&rsquo;ll also make sure it makes its way to James&rsquo; team.
First, keep in mind that we have no control over the U.S. Postal Service. While our information is fresh when our issues are written and published, it may be outdated by the time your mailman delivers the physical copy to you.
But the day the issue goes to the printer is also the day it gets posted on our website. We send you an email to let you know it&rsquo;s online. You should have received it on May 22&hellip; a full month before the snail mail version reached you!
And even if you don&rsquo;t have an email address or internet access, it doesn&rsquo;t mean you missed out.
In this recommendation, $140 is the limit price &mdash; the most you should pay for the stock. You can give your broker standing instructions to buy the stock if it falls to $140.

It&rsquo;s commonly known as the VIX&hellip; but professional investors also call it the &ldquo;Fear Gauge.&rdquo;
Without getting into the mechanics, a high VIX reading indicates that investors expect trouble ahead &mdash; so they&rsquo;re moving their money out of harm&rsquo;s way.
Lately, however, the VIX has been unusually calm.
Of course, there are many, many reasons to believe that the market&rsquo;s tranquility won&rsquo;t last much longer.
Recession warnings&hellip; election jitters&hellip; Mideast turmoil&hellip; unrestrained inflation&hellip;
When the panic inevitably starts, there will be a rush into safer investments.
The deepest pockets, like institutions and hedge funds, will pile into futures and options on everything from Treasury instruments to precious metals.
So our team expects CME Group Inc. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/CME">CME</a>) to thrive in the weeks and months ahead.
CME owns the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Chicago Board of Trade, which specialize in futures and options contracts for interest rates and commodities.
