Now, here&rsquo;s what&rsquo;s happening around the water cooler this week&hellip;
<h2 class="subhead nbp">The Water Cooler &mdash; Upcoming Events and More</h2>
While Donald Trump&rsquo;s international policies have dominated the news, his domestic economic announcements have been raising eyebrows in our office.
The markets are already reacting to the announcement that the Justice Department is investigating Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell.
The president is angry that Powell hasn&rsquo;t lowered interest rates more aggressively &mdash; so this could be a way to push the chairman out before his term expires later this year.
Jim Rickards&rsquo; go-to analyst, Dan Amoss, sees the possibility that U.S. Commerce Secretary Scott Bessant could end up running the Fed, too.
He points out that despite the Federal Reserve&rsquo;s supposed independence, it has spent the last few decades working with the government to prop up the markets.
&ldquo;They just haven&rsquo;t been transparent about it,&rdquo; Dan adds. &ldquo;At least not yet.&rdquo;
Donald Trump has also told banks that he wants credit card interest rates to max out at 10% &mdash; which will make banks lose a huge amount of revenue. Other industries that earn money from credit cards, like airlines, could suffer, too.
But in this case, Trump&rsquo;s threats are unlikely to become reality. Dan says it&rsquo;s &ldquo;one of Trump's knee-jerk tweets to be reversed or ignored by card issuers.&rdquo;
For one thing, there are enormous legal hurdles to forcing banks to change their rates. And Dan assumes Bessant will explain to Trump why his proposal won&rsquo;t fly.
Trump is also moving to ban giant investment management companies, like Blackrock Inc., from buying houses. The president hopes that keeping these deep-pocketed institutions out of the market will make homes more affordable.
&ldquo;Banning Blackstone from homebuying may or may not affect housing prices,&rdquo; says our Byron King. &ldquo;But it makes Trump look like the champion of the little guy, the family that wants to buy a house and raise children.&rdquo;
That seems to be the impetus behind all of Trump&rsquo;s latest economic announcements &mdash; to show that he&rsquo;s doing something to make the American dream more affordable.
Whether he&rsquo;ll succeed or not is another question. But you can expect Wall Street to overreact to every comment from the White House&hellip; creating incredible profit opportunities for you.

$5,000&ndash;$6,000 was a popular price target for gold. David M. is a little more optimistic, expecting &ldquo;gold to $7,750.&rdquo; 
Doug P. tops him by seeing gold &ldquo;easily heading to $10,000 by year&rsquo;s end.&rdquo; 
Leon D. is even more bullish, telling us &ldquo;Gold to $15,000.&rdquo;
The ranges for silver were more spread out.
&ldquo;Silver to $200,&rdquo; William L. opines. &ldquo;Silver breaks through $200,&rdquo; Doug T. agrees. Gordon F. thinks &ldquo;silver will rise to at least $300.&rdquo;
Not everyone was bullish, though.
&ldquo;I think we could see gold dropping to $2,000 to $2,400,&rdquo; says Theodore L. &ldquo;Gold really has no utility value other than a hedge against fiat currencies.&rdquo;
Theodore thinks more money will move into cryptocurrencies instead &mdash; a bullish stance shared by a few others.
&ldquo;Bitcoin reaches an all-time high,&rdquo; Kishor A. predicts. &ldquo;TAO to $2,500,&rdquo; adds Michael C.
There was much more disagreement about which way the major indexes will go.&nbsp;
&ldquo;The S&amp;P 500 will fall below 6,000,&rdquo; says James R.
James L. counters, &ldquo;The Dow index breaks 60,000.&rdquo;
Everett L. foresees a &ldquo;market crash in March.&rdquo; 
Dan W. thinks, &ldquo;The stock market has overall gains of 30%.&rdquo;
&ldquo;Very strong first half for equities and commodities,&rdquo; says Tim A., &ldquo;but then a steep drop before end of year.&rdquo;
&ldquo;I think it will be a flat year with little upturns,&rdquo; according to Ronald R.
Then there are the predictions that are hard to categorize&hellip;
&ldquo;Optimus leaves 1 million people jobless,&rdquo; Francisco L. predicts, referring to the human-like robots Elon Musk is building.
&ldquo;Supreme Court rules that tariffs implemented by the Trump administration were not legal causing chaos in global markets,&rdquo; says Alan Y.
&ldquo;The EU (NATO) will drag the U.S. into war against Russia,&rdquo; Martha W. predicts.
&ldquo;The first commercial fusion power generating facility will be up and running by the end of 2026,&rdquo; James S. foresees.
&ldquo;At least one major U.S. city will file for bankruptcy,&rdquo; Tyler L. tells us.
As I read through the forecasts, I couldn&rsquo;t help but notice that all of the predictions I received had one thing in common&hellip;
They all predict a wild 2026.

<h2 class="subhead nbp">The Water Cooler &mdash; Upcoming Events and More</h2>
Last week we gathered our entire team in Baltimore to share their 2026 wealth predictions.
Enrique Abeyta was up first. He told us that he expects OpenAI &mdash; whose ChatGPT software kicked off Wall Street&rsquo;s AI obsession &mdash; will collapse like Enron did in 2001.
Keep in mind, around this time last year, Enrique predicted that Nvidia Corp. (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/NVDA">NVDA</a>) would lose $1 trillion in market cap in 2025. And he was proven right just a few months later.
If he&rsquo;s right again, the collapse won&rsquo;t just take down OpenAI. It will also be terrible for companies who depend on ChatGPT.
Enrique calls it the OpenAIpocalyse.
Chris Campbell, meanwhile, thinks AI software is making the world vulnerable to a massive cyberattack. He predicts that communications and power grids will be hit hard sometime in 2026.
It will force governments and institutions to fall back on a technology that&rsquo;s fallen out of favor.
Our technical analysts see wild swings in the market, too. Mason Sexton is warning about a &ldquo;danger zone&rdquo; set to arrive after Feb. 17. When it happens, he tells us, there will be a bigger move into hard assets like silver and gold.
Greg Guenthner also foresees pullbacks starting in late winter to early summer, followed by more wild swings as the midterm elections approach. He&rsquo;s not scared, though. While he says things are &ldquo;going to be weird,&rdquo; the ups and downs will open up plenty of short-term opportunities.
In fact, he says 2026 will be the &ldquo;Year of the Trader.&rdquo;
Zach Scheidt tells us that some of those pullbacks will happen as investors shuffle their holdings. He predicts Wall Street will abandon some of today&rsquo;s top AI names and invest in companies leading the next phase of AI.
So he&rsquo;s looking for stocks that could triple thanks to this great rotation.
If you missed the first AI boom, this could be your second chance!
James Altucher also expects the AI revolution to take a new form &mdash; this time into robotics. He believes that 2026 will be a landmark year for robots&hellip; where competition to build the most useful and versatile machines will lead to lower prices for them.
Another breakthrough to look for is in the world of medicine. Ray Blanco is tracking two small biotechs with promising diabetes treatments.
It&rsquo;s possible we could see a functional cure for the common disease in the next 12 months&hellip; causing shares of the developers to go through the roof!

And finally, in a related vein, last week <a href="https://concierge.paradigmpressgroup.com/article/the-market-is-mispricing-the-cryptos-that-matter">I unlocked an article from James</a> about cryptocurrencies. It inspired Jay C. to ask:
What is the difference between cryptocurrency and the tulip bulb run-up of old Holland? I see no underlying value of a crypto. 
Great question, Jay! And it&rsquo;s a fear that&rsquo;s probably driving the crypto sell-off &mdash; a worry that demand for digital cash could disappear as quickly as Europeans&rsquo; love of tulips in the 1600s.
Chris Campbell and James would probably be the first to admit that a lot of cryptos are worthless&hellip; created just to jump on the bandwagon. But they&rsquo;ve also zeroed in on cryptocurrencies that do have value &mdash; thanks to the blockchains they&rsquo;re built on.
A tulip is just a pretty flower that blooms for a few weeks and dies. It has zero use beyond decoration and as potential food for wildlife.
Blockchains, however, can accomplish all sorts of things. They allow people to quickly and reliably transfer assets &mdash; saving time and money while avoiding red tape.

As long as businesses can profitably use blockchains, the cryptocurrencies they create will still have value.

Jim and James largely agree on what makes a company worth buying. So it&rsquo;s not surprising they both independently zeroed in on INTC, which has solid assets and all the makings of a good turnaround story.
But they had very different reasons for recommending the company.
James believes Intel&rsquo;s ability to make next-generation microchips will make it a major player in the next wave of artificial intelligence (AI).
Jim, however, was more interested in the fact that Intel was looking to build its chips in the United States &mdash; which would earn it support from Donald Trump.
Just last month, Jim&rsquo;s prediction came true when the Trump administration announced a nearly $9 billion investment in Intel. And since the stock had delivered a nice gain, it made sense for Jim to recommend selling.
At the same time, the company is just starting production of the chips James has been waiting for. Wall Street investors will want to make sure they deliver as promised before adding more Intel shares to their portfolio.
So James thinks it&rsquo;s too early to sell.
Who you should listen to depends on your reasons for buying the stock, too. Did you buy because you believed Trump would boost Intel? Or were you more interested in its high-tech potential?

There&rsquo;s no question that the United States has a major illegal drug problem.
In fact, in the early days of his administration, Donald Trump tied his tariffs against Mexico, Canada and China to fentanyl entering the country.
But while a lot of illegal drugs come out of Venezuela, they aren&rsquo;t the biggest supplier to America&rsquo;s back alleys. So why is Trump singling it out?
Enrique Abeyta, our in-house &ldquo;Maverick,&rdquo; thinks he has the answer&hellip;
&ldquo;Venezuela has the largest oil reserves of any country on Earth,&rdquo; Enrique tells us. &ldquo;Technically larger than Saudi Arabia.&rdquo;
But the country&rsquo;s government has mismanaged its bounty, failing to upgrade the infrastructure necessary to extract and process the crude.
Trump also sanctioned Venezuelan oil exports during his first term, so we receive none of what the country does manage to pump out.
The U.S. president may be looking to change that. He could offer President Maduro a simple deal &mdash; stop the drugs. Oh, and let U.S. companies have a crack at your oil reserves.
If that were to happen, the spike in supply would hurt major exporters like Iran and Russia.
Getting Venezuela&rsquo;s oil network up to speed won&rsquo;t be cheap or easy, though.
Any company that wants to try will need lots of support from oil services companies like SLB NV (<a href="https://my.paradigmpressgroup.com/ticker/SLB">SLB</a>), better known as Schlumberger.
Low oil and gas prices have plagued oil service companies for the last several years.
But our technical analysts say their charts are showing breakout potential.
They also look good on a fundamental level, says Dan Amoss.
&ldquo;Oil service companies have been in the wilderness since 2014,&rdquo; Dan tells us. So they&rsquo;ve had to cut expenses to the bone to stay in business.
If Trump makes a deal with Maduro &mdash; or forces him out of office &mdash; business at oil services companies like SLB could suddenly pick up.
Higher earnings with rock-bottom costs could send their share prices soaring.
That&rsquo;s why we&rsquo;ll be watching the next few days very carefully!
