Nvidia’s Dysprosium Problem

Dysprosium.

It may sound like a medical condition — or the drug used to treat it.

But it’s actually a critical raw material for high-tech devices…

And China has just restricted exports of the stuff.

Companies like Nvidia Corp. (NVDA) are directly affected by the Chinese move.

Yet Wall Street seems completely oblivious to the danger.

In a minute, I’ll tell you what our experts think… as well as what it means for your portfolio.

First, though, let’s look at our Top Stories and the Reader Forum.

Your Top Stories & Analysis of the Week:

  • “Highway Robbery With a Hot Towel” (Rude Awakening, Sean Ring): The day before the Paradigm Shift Summit in Nashville, TN, Sean stopped at a local barbershop for a shave and a haircut. He shares the entire experience, from the high-class waiting area to the top-notch treatment. It all seemed too good to be true… until Sean got the bill. His story was our most-liked e-letter last week — and pretty popular with the staff, too.
  • “Why Silver Will Smash Through $50” (Daily Reckoning, Adam Sharp): Gold has spent the past few days hitting new high after new high. Silver prices are up, too — but they still haven’t reached record territory. In fact, silver has a habit of retreating just shy of $50 an ounce. Except this time will be different, as Adam explains. He walks you through exactly what’s happening with the precious metal… and why it points to big profits ahead. Discover why it was the most-liked Daily Reckoning last week!

Remember, we publish tens to HUNDREDS of stories. The write-ups above are our TOP ones for the week — including one that had been roped off from the public. If you want to stay ahead of the pack, make sure you’re caught up now.

And if you’d like to nominate any of our stories for next week’s “Top 3,” just let me know at concierge@paradigmpressgroup.com.

The Reader Forum:

First up today, James Altucher and Chris Cimorelli sent a grand-slam sell alert on Oct. 8. It told Microcap Millionaire members to sell half their position in BTQ Technologies Corp. (BTQ) for a 1,025% gain.

The massive win prompted Chris M. to leave us a five-star Google review, adding:

What an amazing service James and Chris (and the whole team from Paradigm Press, too many great names to mention) provide with the recommendations and experience. Thank you guys. You are truly one honest and trusted source and the wealth of knowledge.

I really appreciate you leaving that review, Chris! The whole Paradigm team has been on fire lately, as Publisher Matt Insley said a few weeks ago.

And that collective mental firepower was on full display at last week’s Paradigm Shift Summit. It was our best one yet — and that’s not just my opinion.

In fact, Omega Wealth Circle member Todd H. wrote Matt to say:

Powerhouse of a summit! My brain feels like it climbed a mountain… I would have paid double to attend with the quality you obviously put into it. I know. I plan conferences, speak at many and attend even more.

If you’re reading this, Todd, thanks so much for sharing the kind words! It was great meeting so many happy members in person. I’m also still in awe of how much our team shared in their presentations.

The feedback has been so good that we’re already trying to figure out how to top ourselves for the next Paradigm Shift Summit. Stay tuned!

Finally for today, three very similar questions hit our inbox…

What is the best way to get a question to Jim Rickards?” asks JB.

Arvind G. wants to know, Could you send me Mason Sexton’s Paradigm Press email address?

And Michael V. tells us, “I would appreciate it if you would get a message to Chris Cimorelli.”

I’m happy to help!

If you’d like, you can just send your messages to me at concierge@paradigmpressgroup.com. My customer care agents constantly monitor that inbox and will forward any questions or comments to our analysts — just like I did with Michael V.’s comments for Chris.

Another option is to use the feedback email address you’ll find at the bottom of every email from our paid services.

For example, you can send questions, comments and suggestions for Jim to AskJim@paradigmpressgroup.com.

Please keep in mind that we’re not allowed to give you personalized investment advice. And to avoid any hint of impropriety, our analysts cannot reply to you directly.

Instead, look for their answers in issues, alerts and live calls.

I hope that helps!

That wraps up this week’s Reader Forum.

Remember, your feedback is vital to our success… so please email me at concierge@paradigmpressgroup.com.

Questions? I’ll get answers! Comments? Let me hear them! Problems? I’ll try to solve them!

This is YOUR forum!

(And don’t forget, we also have a FREE library of introductory investment guides — covering everything from finding a broker to how to trade stock options — on our Wealth Desk. For customer service issues, please use our contact page.)

Now, here’s what’s happening around the water cooler this week…

The Water Cooler — Upcoming Events and More

The news broke during our Paradigm Shift Summit in Nashville, TN.

China announced it was tightening its grip on more rare earth elements — adding new restrictions and fees to the high-tech raw materials.

Donald Trump immediately responded with new tariff threats… sending the major indexes crashing.

But the president softened his tone over the weekend, re-igniting Wall Street’s bullish euphoria.

Just don’t think the problems have been solved.

Yes, the U.S. government is throwing tons of money at “American birthright”
companies, trying to build out domestic rare earth production as quickly as possible.

Getting those facilities up and running will still take years, however.

“We require a Manhattan Project on steroids for rare earths, beginning yesterday,” says our Byron King. “Actually, beginning 15 years ago.”

Without home grown supplies of rare earths, U.S. companies are at China’s mercy.

For example, Nvidia and other semiconductor makers rely on a rare earth element called dysprosium. It helps make their chips more heat resistant.

But right now there’s a single source for pure dysprosium… a refinery in China.

It’s also one of the rare earths that China has placed restrictions on.

And while Trump has struck a more conciliatory tone, the Chinese haven’t walked back any of their threats yet.

That could spell trouble for AI stocks… while giving U.S. rare earth stocks a lot more room to run.

Our team was on top of the rare earth story long before it was front-page news.

So you can count on us to keep you ahead of the next twists and turns!
